LOCA Bonding for Complex Display Geometries
A precisely dispensed liquid optically clear adhesive fills the optical gap, accommodates design variation and cures into a clear, durable bond for custom touch-display assemblies.
What is LOCA Bonding?
LOCA bonding uses a liquid optically clear adhesive that is dispensed between the cover lens, touch sensor and display, then spread under controlled conditions and cured—typically with UV light. Because the material flows before curing, it can accommodate larger gaps, uneven surfaces, stepped printing and geometries that may be difficult for a pre-cut adhesive film.
Vanlytech controls resin volume, dispense pattern, flow behavior, edge sealing and cure energy to minimize bubbles, overflow, contamination and cure shadow. Material selection is matched to glass, plastic, polarizer and ink compatibility as well as thermal, UV and environmental requirements.
Key Advantages
- Conformal filling of variable or irregular optical gaps
- Suitable for curved, stepped or complex cover-lens designs
- Excellent optical coupling and improved outdoor readability
- Flexible adhesive properties can help manage mechanical stress
- Adaptable for prototypes, custom assemblies and larger formats
- Precise volume control for consistent bond-line thickness
Our Bonding Process
- Surface compatibility review and precision cleaning
- Resin selection and dispense-volume programming
- Controlled dispensing and vacuum-assisted gap filling
- Alignment and overflow management
- UV pre-cure followed by complete cure as specified
- Optical, cosmetic, adhesion and functional inspection
Typical Applications
Custom industrial displays, curved or decorated cover lenses, low-to-medium volume projects, large-format touch systems, specialized medical interfaces and assemblies with challenging tolerance stacks.
Engineering Considerations
Successful LOCA bonding depends on viscosity, dispense path, cure depth, UV shadow areas, ink compatibility and edge-seal design. Vanlytech validates the process against bubble formation, yellowing, delamination, mura and material stress before volume production.
